1. WHAT IS Efferalgan 1 g
Efferalgan 1 g is a type of medicine called an analgesic and antipyretic.
It is used to reduce fever and treat pain in atrosis, arthritis, musculoskeletal pain, dental pain, headache, dismanorrea ...
- Active ingredient: Paracetamol (D.C.I.): 1 g.
- Excipients: Sorbitol, saccharin, sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, sodium carbonate, potassium benzoate, polyvidone and sodium carbonate.
2. BEFORE YOU TAKE THIS MEDICINE
Check with your doctor before taking Efferalgan 1 g:
- If you are under 15 years old.
- If you are allergic to acetaminophen or any other part of this medicine.
- If you have liver disease.
Take special care with Efferalgan 1 g:
Do not exceed the recommended dose.
If the pain persists for more than 10 days, the fever for more than 3 days or pain or fever or other symptoms worsen, discontinue treatment and consult a doctor.
The use of paracetamol in patients who consume alcohol regularly (three or more alcoholic drinks a day) can cause liver damage.
In chronic alcoholics, you should be careful not to take more than 2 g / day of paracetamol.
In patients with kidney, heart or lung disease and patients with anemia, consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
caution in aspirin-sensitive asthmatic patients is recommended, because they have been described broncoespásmicas light reactions with paracetamol (cross-reaction) in these patients, although only demonstrated in less than 5% of those tested.
If no sodium or low sodium diet, you should know that each tablet of Efferalgan 1 g contains about 567 mg (24.66 mEq) of sodium and taken into account in the daily ration.

Important information about some of the ingredients of Efferalgan 1g
This medicine contains 252.20 mg of sorbitol as an excipient for effervescent tablet. It can cause stomach upset and diarrhea. Should not be used in patients with hereditary fructose intolerance.
Taking other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines including those obtained without a prescription.
Paracetamol can interact with the following medications:
oral Anticoagulants (used for the treatment of thromboembolic diseases)
-Antiepilépticos (Used to treat seizures)
Diuretics (used to increase urine output)
-Isoniazida (Used to treat tuberculosis)
-Lamotrigina (Used for the treatment of epilepsy)
-Probenecid (Used to treat gout)
-Propranolol (Used for the treatment of hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias)
Rifampin (used to treat tuberculosis)
-Anticolinérgicos (Used for relief of spasms or contractions of the stomach, intestines and bladder)
Zidovudine (used for the treatment of HIV infections))
-Colestiramina (Used to lower cholesterol levels in the blood) Do not use with other pain medications without consulting a doctor.
Interactions with diagnostic tests

3. HOW TO TAKE Efferalgan 1 g:
Follow these instructions unless your doctor gave you different advice. Remember to take your medicine.
The effervescent tablets should be dissolved in a glass of water. Before taking the medicine it is necessary to stop the effervescence or bubbling.
Your doctor will indicate the duration of treatment with Efferalgan 1 g. Do not stop treatment before because, otherwise, the medicine may not produce the desired effect.
Adults and children over 15 years: The usual dose for adults and children over 15 years is 1 tablet (1 g) 3 or 4 times a day. The shots should be spaced at intervals of at least 4 hours. more than 4 tablets (4g) in 24 hours is not taken.
Patients with liver disease or kidney disease: should consult a physician.
Elderly: should consult a physician.
If it considers that the action of Efferalgan 1 g is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
If you take more Efferalgan 1 g than you should:

If swallowed an overdose, you should quickly go immediately to a medical center even if no symptoms because they often do not manifest until after 3 days from the ingestion of overdose, even in cases of severe poisoning.
Symptoms of overdose may include: dizziness, vomiting, loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice) and abdominal pain.
Treatment of overdose is most effective if started within 4 hours after ingestion of the medicine.
Patients treated with barbiturates or chronic alcoholics may be more susceptible to the toxicity of an overdose of paracetamol.
If you forget to take Efferalgan 1 g:
Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose, just take the missed dose when you remember and take the next dose separation between shots indicated in each case (4 to 6 hours).
