What Couldina with Acetylsalicylic Acid is and what it is used for

Couldina with Acetylsalicylic Acid is an association of acetylsalicylic acid, chlorphenamine and phenylephrine.

Acetylsalicylic acid is an anti-inflammatory that works on pain and fever.

Chlorphenamine is an antihistamine that relieves a runny nose.

Phenylephrine is a sympathomimetic that reduces nasal congestion.

It is indicated in adults and adolescents from 16 years of age for the relief of symptoms of colds and flu that present with fever, mild or moderate pain, congestion and runny nose.

You should see your doctor if it worsens or if it does not improve or if the fever persists for more than 3 days or pain for more than 5 days.

How to take Couldina with Acetylsalicylic Acid

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If in doubt ask your doctor or pharmacist.

The recommended dose is:

Adults and adolescents from 16 years:

Take 1 tablet every 8 hours. If necessary, it could be taken every 6 hours (3 or 4 times in 24 hours).

In any case, no more than 4 tablets can be taken in 24 hours, and a minimum time should be left between each dose of 6 hours.

Use in patients with reduced liver, kidney or heart functions

These patients cannot take this medicine without consulting the doctor since the dose must be reduced.

Use in children

This medication is contraindicated in children under 16 years of age.

Use in the elderly

Elderly people can not use this medicine without consulting the doctor, because some adverse effects of the medicine such as slow heartbeat (bradycardia) or reduced heart rate due to the content of phenylephrine and chlorphenamine may especially affect them. They are also more likely to have adverse effects such as sedation, confusion, hypotension, or arousal, and may be more sensitive to effects such as dry mouth and urinary retention.

Administration form

Take Couldina with Acetylsalicylic Acid after meals or with any food or milk (especially if digestive discomfort is noted).

It should not be taken on an empty stomach.

This medicine is taken orally.

Dissolve the tablet in a little liquid, preferably half a glass of water and wait until the bubbling or effervescence has completely disappeared and then drink.

Always use the lowest dose that is effective.

The administration of this medicine is subject to the appearance of all symptoms, pain or fever, congestion and runny nose. As these disappear, treatment should be discontinued.

If the fever persists for more than 3 days of treatment, pain or other symptoms for more than 5 days, or worsens or other new symptoms appear, you should see your doctor.

If you take more Couldina with Acetylsalicylic Acid than you should

The main symptoms of overdose are: headache, dizziness, ringing in the ears, blurred vision, drowsiness, sweating, rapid breathing, lowering or raising of blood pressure, altered pulse (cardiac arrhythmias), nervousness, hallucinations, confusion, nausea, vomiting, and occasionally diarrhea.

In case of overdose or accidental ingestion, immediately consult your doctor or pharmacist or go to a medical center immediately or call the Toxicology Information Service, telephone: 91 562 04 20, indicating the medicine and the amount ingested.
