1. What is Iniston mucolytic and what it is used
Carbocisteine, the active ingredient of this medicine belongs to the group of medicines called mucolytics, which act by decreasing the viscosity of mucus, fluidificándolo and facilitating their elimination.
This medication is used to facilitate removal of excess mucus and phlegm in colds and flu for adults and adolescents from 12 years old.
You should consult your doctor if worsens or does not improve after 5 treatment.
2. What you need to know before you start taking Iniston mucolytic
Do not take Iniston mucolytic if you are allergic to the active substance and its derivatives or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.
Warnings and Precautions
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before you start taking Iniston mucolytic itself:
- Have stomach ulcers, duodenum or if you have thyroid disease.
- Have asthma or severe respiratory disease because it can increase airway obstruction.
During the first days of treatment you will see an increase in mucus and phlegm, which will decrease throughout the treatment.
Do not give this medicine to children under 12 years old.
Taking with other medicines Mucolytic Iniston
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, you have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
Do not take this medication with medicines used to reduce non-productive cough (antitussive) or with medicines used to reduce bronchial secretions because it can cause an accumulation of mucus fluidised.
Taking Iniston mucolytic with food and drink

Pregnancy and lactation
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, you think you may be pregnant or planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.
It is not recommended to take this medicine to pregnant or lactating.
Driving and using machines
Carbocisteine influence on the ability to drive and use machines or negligible.
This product contains 2.4% ethanol (alcohol), which corresponds to an amount of 280 mg per 15 ml, equivalent to 7 ml of beer or wine 2.8ml. This medicine is harmful for those suffering from alcoholism. The amount of alcohol in this medicine may alter the effects of other medicines.

Iniston mucolytic contains orange S (E-110)
This medicine may cause allergic reactions because it contains yellow orange S (E-110). It can cause asthma, especially in patients allergic to aspirin.
Iniston mucolytic contains sodium
Patients with sodium diet should note that this product contains 141.3 mg (6 mmol) of sodium per 15 ml.
3. How to take Iniston mucolytic
Follow exactly the instructions of medicine administration in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose is:
Adults and adolescents from 12 years old: 15 ml of oral solution (750 mg of Carbocisteine) 3 times a day, which means a daily maximum of 45 ml of oral solution (2.25 g of Carbocisteine).
Once observe improvement, can reduce the dose to 10 ml oral solution (500 mg carbocysteine) 3 times a day, which means a daily maximum of 30 ml oral solution (1.5 g of carbocisteine).
How to take:
This medicine is taken orally
Measure the amount of medicine you have to take with the measuring cup in the container.
It is preferable that the medicine is taken before a meal.
You should drink a glass of water after each dose and plenty of fluids during the day.
If the patient worsens or if symptoms persist after 5 days of treatment, or occurs: fever, skin rash, persistent headache or sore throat, you should consult your doctor.
Use in children
Children under 12 years old can not take this medicine.
If you take more than you should Iniston mucolytic:
If you have taken more Iniston mucolytic of what you owe, you may notice stomach pain, nausea and diarrhea, itching and skin rashes.
In case of overdose or accidental ingestion consult your doctor or pharmacist or call the poison control center, phone: +34 91 562 04 20, indicating the medicine and the amount taken.
If you forget to take Iniston mucolytic:
Do not take a double dose to make up for missed doses.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Iniston mucolytic can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
During the period of use of Carbocisteine we have observed the following side effects which often could not be established accurately.
Rarely nausea, upset stomach or diarrhea, which usually disappear by decreasing the dose may appear.
Rarely observed other reactions such as bleeding in the stomach or intestine, headache, itching, rashes and angioedema (swelling of certain areas of the skin).
In these cases, it is advised to stop treatment and consult a doctor.
5. Conservation mucolytic Iniston
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not store above 30 ° C.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack after EXP. The expiry date is the last day of that month.

Iniston Mucolytic composition
- The active substance is Carbocisteine. Each ml of solution contains 50 mg of Carbocisteine.
- The other ingredients (excipients) are ethanol (2.4% v / v) sodium hydroxide, Mirabelle flavoring, citric acid monohydrate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, sodium cyclamate, Methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), disodium edetate, saccharin sodium, orange Yellow S (E-110), purified water.
