What Gine-Canestén is and what it is used for
Clotrimazole is an antifungal (medicine that is used to treat fungal infections).

This medication is indicated in the treatment of uncomplicated vulvovaginal candidiasis (a vaginal infection caused by a fungus called Candida).
The main symptoms are itching usually accompanied by increased vaginal discharge, pain and redness of the vaginal area and vulvar area, burning and burning sensation when urinating. These symptoms are not specific to vulvovaginal candidiasis. If in doubt, see your doctor.

How to use Gine-Canestén
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
This medicine is administered vaginally. Do not eat.

The recommended dose is:
Adults and adolescents over 12 years old
A vaginal capsule is usually sufficient, preferably administered at night before bed. The vaginal capsule should be inserted deep into the vagina (see applicator instructions for use), with the patient lying on her back with her legs slightly bent.

If symptoms persist after treatment ends or recur after two months, or you have problems with your immune system, HIV infection, AIDS, or diabetes, you should see your doctor.
You should not use tampons, douches, spermicides, or other vaginal products while using this medication.
It is not recommended to start treatment during menstruation. The treatment must have ended before the start of menstruation.

Pregnant women
In case of treatment in the last 4-6 weeks of pregnancy, it is recommended not to use the applicator, inserting the vaginal capsule directly with the finger, after careful washing of the hands.
