What SANODIN 20 mg / g oral ointment is and what it is used for
Carbenoxolone, the active ingredient in this medicine, is a derivative of licorice root that has anti-inflammatory activity.
Sanodin is indicated for the symptomatic relief of small canker sores or ulcers of less than 1 centimeter (1 cm).
These small canker sores or ulcers are also known as sores, which usually appear on the inside of the lips, cheeks, at the base of the gums or under the tongue.
HOW TO USE SANODIN 20 mg / g oral ointment
Follow the instructions for using this medicine exactly, unless your doctor has told you to do different ones. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have doubts.
This medicine is for oral use only (to be used in the mouth only).
Apply a thin layer of the ointment to the area to be treated, 4 times a day, preferably after meals and before going to bed.
The container is provided with a cannula to facilitate the application of the ointment in the place where it is necessary in the mouth.
Instructions for the correct application of the medicine:
1. Unscrew the white cap from the tube and once open screw the cannula (see figure 1).
2. Remove the cap from the cannula.
3. Apply the ointment to the affected area of the mouth (see figure 2).
4. Unscrew the cannula and screw the white cap onto the tube so that it is tightly closed.
5. Wash the cannula and store it with the cap.
For hygiene reasons, wash hands before and after each application.
If symptoms worsen or persist after 7 days of treatment, you should consult a doctor.
If you use more Sanodin than you should
No cases of overdose have been reported. The continuous use of high doses of this medicine, or in case of accidental ingestion, may cause retention of water and sodium, and loss of potassium, which could cause hypertension or hypokalemia.
In case of overdose or accidental ingestion, consult your doctor or pharmacist or call the Toxicology Information Service, telephone 91 562 04 20, indicating the medicine and the amount ingested.
If you forget to use Sanodin
If you forget to use this medication when appropriate, apply the oral ointment as soon as you are aware of it and continue your regular treatment regimen. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
