What Nurofen Junior is and what it is used for

The active substance (which makes the drug effective) is ibuprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).

Nurofen Junior is used in children from 20 kg (7 years of age) to 40 kg of weight (12 years of age) for the occasional symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain, such as dental pain, headache, and fever and pain associated with common cold.

You should see a doctor if your child gets worse or does not improve after 3 days.

How to use Nurofen Junior

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If in doubt ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Nurofen Junior is administered orally.

The capsules should be chewed and swallowed later. It is not necessary to take them with water.

This medication is for short-term use only.

The minimum effective dose should be used for the minimum time necessary to alleviate symptoms.

Do not give this medicine to children under 7 years of age or to children weighing less than 20 kg.

The recommended dose is:

The dose of ibuprofen depends on the child's body weight. As a general rule, 5-10 mg / kg of body weight are given as a single dose up to a maximum of 20-30 mg / kg of body weight as the total daily dose.

Child's body weight (kg): 20-29 Age (years): 7-9 Single dose: 200 mg of ibuprofen (equivalent to 2 capsules) Maximum daily dose: 600 mg of ibuprofen (equivalent to 6 capsules)

Child's body weight (kg): 30-40 Age (years): 10-12 Single dose: 300 mg of ibuprofen (equivalent to 3 capsules) Maximum daily dose: 900 mg of ibuprofen (equivalent to 9 capsules)

The doses should be administered approximately every 6 - 8 hours (or with a minimum of 6 hours between each dose), if necessary.

WARNING: do not exceed the established dose.

Talk to your doctor if you need to take this medicine for more than 3 days or if symptoms worsen.
