1. WHAT IS DULCOLAXO AND WHAT IT IS USED
The active ingredient of this medicine is glycerol, a laxative, which is administered rectally. Glycerol softens the stool and with a slight local irritant action, gets stimulate bowel movements.
It is indicated for the local symptomatic relief of occasional and transient constipation in adults and children from 12 years old.
2. BEFORE YOU USE DULCOLAXO
Check with your doctor before using DULCOLAXO if:
- If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to glycerol or any of the other ingredients (excipients) of DULCOLAXO.
- If you have any anorectal disease, ulcerative colitis (a type of chronic inflammation of the intestine) and inflamed hemorrhoids.
- If you have stomach cramps, colic, nausea, vomiting or other signs of appendicitis, intestinal obstruction, acute inflammatory bowel diseases, or in general, any situation of abdominal pain without knowing the cause that produces them.
- In children under 12 years old.
Take special care with DULCOLAXO
- If the appearance of blood in stool, irritation, pain or no improvement should discontinue treatment and consult a doctor.
- Do not use this medicine more than 7 days unless your doctor tells you.
This medicine is used only under strict medical supervision in patients with especially severe cardiovascular diseases (ie heart or blood vessels).
Using other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
Using DULCOLAXO with food and drinks
Food and drink do not affect the effectiveness of this medicine.
Pregnancy and lactation
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine.
Driving and using machines
Using this medicine does not affect the ability to drive and / or operate machinery.
3. HOW TO USE DULCOLAXO
Follow the instructions exactly DULCOLAXO management provided by your doctor. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have doubts.
The usual dose is:
Adults and children over 12 years old:
Take 1 pack a day, as needed, or as prescribed by your doctor.
Use in children
This medicine is contraindicated in children under 12 years old.
This medicine is for rectal use, should not ingest it.
Instructions for proper administration:
To remove the safety cap covering the end of the package, the index finger and thumb on the round clamp placed on the bellows rests, and with the other hand the safety cap until their separation curves of the container body.
Once opened, lightly you press the bellows for a few drops of medicine moisten the applicator tip, which will facilitate its introduction into the rectum. Gently the applicator end is inserted into the rectum, the bellows is pressed, thus emptying its contents. the container is removed gently, holding down bellows. Repressing the evacuation as long as possible for the medicine to exercise its action perfectly.
Even if there are remains in the container after administration, is secured supply of the indicated dose. Each dose container can only be used once. It should be discarded after use.
If at the time of application any resistance, you should stop it, because it can be harmful and damaging.
Do not use the product for more than 7 days. If symptoms do not improve should discontinue treatment and consult a doctor.
If you use more than you should DULCOLAXO
It is unlikely that of poisonings occur due to use.
Abusive prolonged use of this medicine and can lead to irritable syndrome (symptoms or discomfort as alternating constipation and diarrhea, abdominal cramps, bloating, nausea and gas) colon.
In case of overdose or accidental ingestion consult your doctor, pharmacist or call poison control center phone (+034) 91.562.04.20 indicating the medicine and the amount taken.
4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, DULCOLAXO can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
During the period of use of Glycerol rectal solution as a laxative, we have observed the following side effects which often failed to accurately establish: Itching, pain and irritation of the anus.
Very rarely been reported hypersensitivity reactions to chamomile (e.g. contact dermatitis) in allergic patients, which could be serious after internal use (swelling of face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat that cause difficulty swallowing or breathing).
If any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, tell your doctor or pharmacist.
5. HOW TO STORE DULCOLAXO
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date on the carton after EXP. The expiry date is the last day of that month.
It does not require any special storage conditions.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Place containers and medicines no longer required at the point SIGRE pharmacy. If in doubt, ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. This way you will help to protect the environment.
6. FURTHER INFORMATION DULCOLAXO
Each bottle contains 5.4 ml of glycerol as an active ingredient.
The other ingredients (excipients) are glycolic extract of Matricaria chamomilla L. (manzanilla), glycolic extract of Malva sylvestris, L. (mallow), wheat starch and purified water q.s.

It comes in boxes with 6-dose containers containing 7.5 ml of rectal solution. It is a slightly opalescent and yellow-brown solution.
