1. What is Canesten Gine-100 mg 6 tablets (with applicator)
Clotrimazole is an antifungal (a medicine used to treat fungal infections).
This medicine is indicated for the treatment of uncomplicated vulvovaginal candidiasis (vaginal infection caused by a fungus called Candida) (See section Warnings and Precautions).
The main symptoms are itching usually accompanied by an increase in vaginal discharge, pain and redness of the vaginal area and vulvar area, burning and burning sensation when urinating. These symptoms are not specific to a vulvovaginal candidiasis. If in doubt, see your doctor.
2. What you need to know before you start using Gine-Canesten
Do not use Gine-Canesten if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to clotrimazole, imidazoles in general or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and Precautions
Consult your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before using Gine-Canesten. Do not eat.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor if you have problems with your immune system, for example if treated with oral corticosteroids or have HIV infection, AIDS or diabetes.
Should consult a doctor if symptoms worsen during treatment or remain after 3 days or if increased vaginal discharge or changes in appearance or odor is observed, or if you have vaginal bleeding.
In case of fever (38C or more), pain in the abdomen or back, back pain, profuse watery vaginal secretions and / or nausea, you should consult your doctor to rule out other diseases.
Eye contact should be avoided as they cause stinging. If accidental eye contact occurs, wash thoroughly with water and consult an ophthalmologist, if necessary.
If an allergic reaction occurs during use, treatment should be discontinued immediately and consult your doctor. Signs of a serious allergic reaction include itching and lumpy rash, swelling, sometimes in the face or mouth causing difficulty breathing.
This medicine can reduce the effectiveness and safety of latex products such as condoms and diaphragms. This effect is temporary and occurs only during treatment.
It is recommended to avoid sex if vaginal infection and while this medicine is used to prevent the couple from getting infected.
Use in children
Do not use in children under 12 years olf.
Gine-Canesten use with other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist that you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines, especially if you are taking tacrolimus or sirolimus (medicines used in transplant patients).
Pregnancy, lactation and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast feeding, or think you might be pregnant or planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.
During the first three months of pregnancy the doctor should evaluate the benefit of using the medicine before administration.
In the treatment with vaginal tablets in the last 4-6 weeks of pregnancy, it is recommended to dispense with the use of the applicator introduced the tablet directly with the finger, after careful hand washing.
Driving and using machines
The influence of Gine-Canesten on ability to drive and use machines is nil or negligible.
3. Using Gine-Canesten
Follow the instructions exactly this medicine in this leaflet or as your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. If in doubt, ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
Usually a vaginal tablet is sufficient preferably applied at night before bed, for 6 consecutive days. The tablet should be inserted deep into the vagina (see instructions for using the applicator), the patient lying on her back with legs slightly bent being.
Vaginal tablets need adequate moisture conditions in the vagina for optimal dissolution of the medicine. Should not have these conditions, some of the medicine could not completely dissolve and get out of the vagina. To prevent this is important to introduce the tablet as deeply as possible into the vagina at bedtime. If the vaginal tablet is not completely dissolved after the first administration, consult your doctor or pharmacist to assess the use of alternative treatments.
If symptoms persist the end of treatment or recur within two months or have problems with your immune system, HIV infection, AIDS or diabetes, should consult with your doctor.
You do not use tampons, intravaginal showers, spermicides or other vaginal products while using this medicine.
It is not recommended to start treatment during menstruation. The treatment must be completed before the onset of menstruation.
Use in children
Do not use in children under 12 years old.
If you use more Gine-Canesten than you should
Accidental ingestion may cause gastrointestinal upset and / or vomiting. Accidental administration in the eyes can cause burning and irritation without gravity.

If you forget to Gine-Canesten
If you forget a dose wait for the next. a double dose not apply to compensate for the missed dose.
If you stop taking Gine-Canesten
Continue using Gine-Canesten until the end of the treatment, even if you feel better. You need to use the full treatment to cure the infection. If you stop fungi may have not disappeared.

4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Gine-Canesten can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Adverse reactions with unknown frequency (can not be estimated from available data) are:
Immune system disorders: Allergic reactions: syncope (sudden loss of consciousness, fainting), hypotension (low blood pressure), difficulty breathing, hives (raised red itchy welts).
Reproductive system and breast disorders: Desquamation, itching, rash, edema, erythema, burning or irritation of the genital area, vaginal discomfort, pelvic pain and vaginal bleeding.
Gastrointestinal disorders: Abdominal pain.
These symptoms usually determine the discontinuation of therapy and are most common during the early days of it.

5. Conservation of Gine-Canesten
Do not store above 25 ° C.
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Gine-Canesten Do not use after the expiry date stated on the label after the abbreviation EXP. The expiry date is the last day of that month.

6. Contents of the pack and other information
- The active substance is clotrimazole. Each vaginal tablet contains 100 mg of clotrimazole.
