1. WHAT IS ANGILEPTOL AND WHAT IT IS USED
The active ingredients of Angileptol act complementing the antiseptic chlorhexidine, with the anti-inflammatory action enoxolone pharyngeal mucosa and local anesthetic action of benzocaine, thus eliminating the discomforts caused by local irritation of the throat.
Angileptol is indicated for the local and temporary symptomatic relief of mild infectious and inflammatory processes of the mouth and throat: You Cold sores, throat irritation caused by aggressive agents external and snuff, sudden changes in temperature, dust, involving pain and without fever.
2. BEFORE YOU TAKE ANGILEPTOL
Do not take Angileptol if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to chlorhexidine, benzocaine, enoxolone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Take special care with Angileptol
- If you do not tolerate other local anesthetics such as para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), parabens or para-phenylenediamine (a component of hair dye).
- If you have severe or extensive lesion in the mouth.
- If you have periodontitis (gum disease), because chlorhexidine may produce an increase in supragingival calculus.
- If you have hypertension or fluid retention, because enoxolone can increase these symptoms.
- It is recommended to maintain proper oral hygiene to reduce tartar buildup and
the possible staining of teeth which can cause chlorhexidine.
- Should not be taken higher than recommended in paragraph 3. (TAKING ANGILEPTOL) dose.
Using other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
Although not described in the recommended conditions of use, it should not be used with other medicines application in the mouth without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.
This is especially important in the case of:
- Other antiseptic mouth or throat.
- Medicine cholinesterase inhibitors (medicines for Alzheimer's).
- Sulphonamides (used for infections).
Anionic compounds and suspending agents, usual components of toothpastes, decrease the efficacy of chlorhexidine so you should rinse your mouth after using the toothpaste.
Interference with diagnostic tests: Angileptol can interact with the test for determining pancreatic function using bentiromide. Do not take this medicine at least three days before the test and report to the doctor.
Pregnancy and lactation
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine.
IMPORTANT FOR WOMEN:
If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, consult your doctor before taking this medicine. Use of medicines during pregnancy can be dangerous for the embryo or fetus and it should be monitored by your doctor.
Use in over 65 years
The use of this medicine in high doses or prolonged treatment can cause hypertension.
The elderly and debilitated patients may be more sensitive to benzocaine.
Use in children
Angileptol not use in children under 6 years without first consulting your doctor. Children may be more sensitive to benzocaine as the elderly and debilitated patients.
Driving and using machines
There have been no effects on the ability to drive or use machines because making this medicine.
Important information about some of the ingredients of Angileptol
This medicine contains sorbitol. If your doctor has told you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.
3. HOW TO TAKE ANGILEPTOL
Follow the instructions exactly Angileptol management as your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have doubts.
The usual dose is:
In adults and children over 12 years: 1 lozenge every 2-3 hours, slowly dissolving in the mouth, up to 8 tablets a day.
In children older than 6 years: 1 tablet every 4-5 hours, slowly dissolving in the mouth, to a maximum of 6 tablets per day.
Angileptol is for oropharyngeal use, so the lozenge should be slowly dissolve in the mouth without chewing or swallowing, because its action is local and only reveals if the product is in direct contact with the affected area.
Always use the lowest effective dose.
The normal duration of treatment is 2 days.
If symptoms worsen or persist for more than 2 days after starting treatment, or appears fever, headache, nausea or vomiting, should consult a doctor as soon as possible.
If you take more than you should Angileptol
If you have taken more Angileptol than you should, immediately consult your doctor or pharmacist.
The most common symptoms are manifested overdose: slurred speech, numbness, staggering gait, blurred or double vision, dizziness, excitement or seizures, ringing in the ears, increased sweating and / or low blood pressure. Also, because this medicine contains enoxolone may have symptoms such as hypertension (high blood pressure) and edema (swelling caused by fluid retention).
