The normal dose is:
Adults and adolescents over 14 years of age (weight 64-65 kg): Take 1 tablet every 4 - 6 hours, as needed. Do not take more than 3 grams (4 tablets) in 24 hours.
Patients with liver disease: Before taking this medicine, you must consult your doctor.
They must take the amount of medication prescribed by their doctor with a minimum interval of 8 hours between each intake.
They should not take more than 3 tablets in 24 hours, divided into 3 doses.
Kidney disease patients: before taking this medicine you need to consult your doctor.
Take a maximum of 500 milligrams per dose.
Due to the 650 milligram dose of paracetamol, the drug is not indicated for this group of patients.
This medicine is taken orally.
The tablets should be swallowed whole or broken in half, with the help of a glass of liquid, preferably water.
The tablets are scored, allowing them to be split in half. The slot is for splitting the tablet only if you find it difficult to swallow it whole.
Always use the lowest dose that is effective.
The use of high daily doses of paracetamol should be avoided for prolonged periods of time since the risk of adverse effects such as liver damage is increased.
The administration of this medicine is subject to the appearance of pain or fever. As these disappear, treatment should be discontinued.
If the pain persists for more than 5 days, the fever for more than 3 days or the pain or fever worsens or other symptoms appear, you should stop the treatment and consult your doctor.
If you take more Gelocatil than you should:
You should immediately consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Overdose symptoms may be: dizziness, vomiting, loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice), and abdominal pain.
If you have ingested an overdose, you should immediately go to a medical center even if you do not notice the symptoms, since these often do not manifest until 3 days after ingestion of the overdose, even in cases of severe poisoning.
The treatment of overdose is more effective if it starts within 4 hours after taking the medicine.
Patients on barbiturates or chronic alcoholics may be more susceptible to the toxicity of a paracetamol overdose.
In case of overdose or accidental ingestion, immediately go to a medical center or call the Toxicological Information Service (telephone 91 562 04 20), indicating the medicine and the amount ingested.
