What Calmatel is and what it is used for
Calmatel contains piketoprofen and belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
This medication is indicated in adolescents over 12 years of age and adults for the local relief of mild and occasional pain and inflammation caused by:
. small bruises, bumps, strains
. torticollis or other contractures
. low back pain
. Mild sprains caused by a sprain
How to use Calmatel
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. If in doubt, ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
Posology
Adolescents over 12 years old and adults:
As a general rule, approximately 1.5 to 2 g of cream will be applied to the affected area, 3 times a day.
Administration form
For cutaneous administration exclusively.
Calmatel will be applied accompanied by a gentle massage to promote its penetration. Its application after the massage can produce a sensation of heat.
If symptoms do not improve within 7 days, you should stop treatment and see a doctor.
If you use more Calmatel than you should
In case of overdose or accidental ingestion, immediately consult your doctor or pharmacist, go to the nearest hospital or consult the Toxicological Information Service, telephone: 915 620 420 (indicating the medicine and the amount used / ingested).
No poisoning has occurred to date.
If you forget to use Calmatel
Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Give yourself the missed dose when you remember, and then stick to your regular schedule. However, if the next application is a few hours away, do not apply the missed dose and wait to apply the next dose at the appropriate time.
