What Cloperastina Normon is and what it is used for
Cloperastine, the active ingredient of this medication, is an antitussive that inhibits the cough reflex.
Cloperastina Normon is a medicine indicated for the treatment of unproductive forms of cough, such as irritative cough or nervous cough for adults and children from 2 years of age.
You should consult a doctor if you get worse or if you do not improve after 7 days of treatment.
What you need to know before you take Cloperastine Normon
I do not take Cloperastine Normon if
. You are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substance or any of the other ingredients of Cloperastina Normon.
. You are allergic to allergy medications (antihistamines).
. You are taking medication to treat depression.
. You are pregnant or think you are or if you are breast-feeding.
. Children under 2 years old cannot take this medicine.
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Cloperastine Normon:
. If you have high intraocular pressure.
. If you have been told that you have prostate hypertrophy.
. If the cough persists after 7 days of treatment.
Children
Children under 2 years old cannot take this medicine, it is contraindicated.
Taking Cloperastine Normon with other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
Cloperastina Normon may interact with other medications such as:
. Medications to help sleep (sedatives, opioid pain relievers, barbiturates, hypnotics, or benzodiazepines).
. Medications for depression and medications for the treatment of Parkinson's because they can enhance the adverse effects of this medication.
. Expectorant and mucolytic medications used to eliminate excess mucus and phlegm, because taking it at the same time as a cough medication such as Cloperastina Normon can prevent the elimination of excess mucus and cause choking.
Taking Cloperastina Normon with food, drinks and alcohol
During treatment with Cloperastina Normon you should not drink alcohol as it can increase the effects of alcohol.
Taking this medication with food and drink does not affect its effectiveness.
Pregnancy and lactation
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
It is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.
Driving and using machines
Clooperastin Normon may cause drowsiness at usual doses. If so, refrain from driving and operating dangerous machinery.
Clooperastin Normon contains propyl parahydroxybenzoate, methyl parahydroxybenzoate and sodium
It may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed) and, exceptionally, bronchospasm because it contains propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E-216) and methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E-218).
This medicine contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per ml; that is, essentially “sodium-free.”
How to take Cloperastine Normon
Exactly follow the medication administration instructions contained in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose is:
In adults and children over 12 years of age: 10 ml, 3 times a day
In children:
Between 7 and 12 years: 5 ml, 2 times a day.
Between 5 and 6 years: 3ml, 2 times a day.
Between 2 and 4 years: 2 ml, 2 times a day.
Cloperastina Normon is contraindicated in children under 2 years of age.
How to drink
Shake the bottle before use.
This medication is taken by mouth.
Measure the amount of medicine you need to take with the 5 ml graduated syringe with markings at 1 ml, 2 ml, 3 ml, 4 ml and 5 ml and intermediate marks every 0.5 ml, included in the box.
If you take more Cloperastine Normon than you should
Symptoms of overdose are: excitement and difficulty breathing.
If you have taken more Cloperastina Normon than you should, consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately or call the toxicology information service 91 562 04 20 indicating the medication and the amount taken.
