What MUCOVITAL is and what it is used for
Carbocysteine, the active ingredient in this medicine, belongs to the group of medicines called mucolytics, which work by decreasing the viscosity of mucus, fluidizing it and facilitating its elimination.
This medicine is indicated to facilitate the elimination of excess mucus and phlegm, in colds and flu for adults and adolescents from 12 years.
You should see a doctor if it worsens or does not improve after 5 days of treatment.
How to take MUCOVITAL
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist again.
The recommended dose is:
Adults and adolescents from 12 years: 1 sachet of MUCOVITAL per day.
Use in children
Children under the age of 12 cannot take this medicine.
Administration mode
This medication is taken orally and preferably before meals.
Dissolve the contents of the envelope in half a glass of water, shaking well with a teaspoon, and then drink.
It is recommended to drink plenty of liquid during the day.
If it worsens, or does not improve after 5 days of treatment, or fever, rash, persistent headache, or sore throat occurs, you should consult your doctor.
If you take more MUCOVITAL than you should
If you have taken more MUCOVITAL than you should, you may notice stomach pain, nausea and diarrhea, itching and a skin rash.
In case of overdose or accidental ingestion consult your doctor, pharmacist, or call the Toxicology Information Service, telephone 915 62 04 20, indicating the medicine and the amount taken.
