Acuolens 30 monodosis
Single-dose eye drops for the symptomatic treatment of dry eye.
What ACUOLENS is and what it is used for
ACUOLENS is an eye drop that, due to its components, hypromellose and sodium chloride, lubricates and protects the cornea, relieving any discomfort (dryness and irritation) caused by the decreased production of tears.
It is used for the symptomatic relief of irritation and dryness of the eyes.
You should see a doctor if it gets worse or does not improve after 3 days.
How to use ACUOLENS
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose is:
Adults (including elderly patients)
Instill 1 or 2 drops in each affected eye, as many times as necessary.
The number of daily applications and the duration of treatment may be modified according to medical criteria.
Recommendations for use:
1 Open the foil pouch and pick up the unit dose strip.
2 Hold the strip with the long smooth end facing up and separate one of the units by stretching it toward you while keeping the others firmly attached. You will have to remove the points where it is attached to the other units.
3 Keep the separate unit. Put the rest of the unit dose back in the foil pouch.
4 Make sure you have a mirror on hand and wash your hands.
5 Hold the long smooth end of the unit in your fingers and open it by turning the other end.
6 Tilt your head back. Gently separate the lower eyelid from the eye with a finger, until a pocket forms, into which the drop should fall.
7 Hold the unit dose between your fingers with the open end facing down.
8 Bring the tip of the container close to the eye. The mirror may be helpful.
9 Do not touch the eye, eyelid, proximal areas, or other surfaces with the tip of the bottle. The drops could become contaminated.
10 Gently squeeze the container so that a drop falls into the bag formed between the eyelid and the eye.
11 If drops are applied to both eyes, repeat the above steps for the other eye, using the same container.
12 Immediately discard the bottle and the remaining solution.
13 Discard any unused packaging within a week of opening the foil pouch, including unopened packaging.
If a drop falls out of the eye, try again.
If you are using other ophthalmic medications, wait at least 5 minutes between administration of this eye drop and the other ophthalmic medications. Ophthalmic ointments should be administered last.
If you use more ACUOLENS than you should, you can remove it by washing your eyes with lukewarm water.
Due to the characteristics of this preparation, no intoxication phenomena are expected with the ophthalmic use of the product.
In case of overdose or accidental ingestion, immediately consult your doctor or call the Toxicology Information Service, telephone 91 562 04 20, indicating the medicine and the amount used.
If you forget to use ACUOLENS do not worry, apply the drops as soon as possible. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
