Vaginal tablet to treat vaginal candidiasis and alleviate symptoms that occur: itching, stinging, burning urination ...
Treatment of 1 day, 1 single application
What Gine-Canestén is and what it is used for
Clotrimazole is an antifungal (medicine that is used to treat fungal infections).
This medicine is indicated in the treatment of uncomplicated vulvovaginal candidiasis (vaginal infection caused by a fungus called Candida) (See Warnings and precautions section).
The main symptoms are itching usually accompanied by increased vaginal discharge, pain and redness of the vaginal area and vulvar area, burning and burning sensation when urinating. These symptoms are not specific to vulvovaginal candidiasis. If in doubt, see your doctor.
How to use Gine-Canestén
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. If in doubt, ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
The recommended dose is:
Adults and adolescents over 12 years old
This medicine is administered vaginally.
A vaginal tablet is usually sufficient, preferably applied at night before bedtime. The tablet should be inserted deep into the vagina (see instructions for use of the applicator), with the patient lying on her back and with her legs slightly bent.
Vaginal tablets need adequate humidity conditions in the vagina for optimal dissolution of the medicine. If you don't have these conditions, some of the medicine may not dissolve completely and come out of the vagina. To prevent this, it is important to insert the tablet as deeply as possible into the vagina at bedtime. If the vaginal tablet does not dissolve completely after the first administration, consult your doctor or pharmacist to assess the use of alternative treatments.
If symptoms persist after treatment ends or recur after two months, or you have problems with your immune system, HIV infection, AIDS, or diabetes, you should see your doctor.
You should not use tampons, douches, spermicides, or other vaginal products while using this medication.
It is not recommended to start treatment during menstruation. The treatment must have ended before the start of menstruation.
Use in children
Do not use in children under 12 years.
